Chongqing/Chengdu
Chongqing 3D City & Dazu Rock Carvings
3 days / 2 nightsChongqing/Chengdu2 reviews
Overview
Chongqing confounds first-time visitors. Built on a confluence of two rivers between steep mountain ridges, it has no flat ground — and so it built upwards, sideways, and through the hillsides. Trains emerge from apartment buildings. Roads run at six different levels above the same street. Escalators climb mountains. And somewhere in the middle of all this vertical chaos, the 1,000-year-old Dazu Rock Carvings sit quietly in a valley, waiting to be discovered.
Tour Highlights
- Hongya Cave — 11 floors of stilt restaurants suspended over the Jialing River
- Dazu Rock Carvings — Tang dynasty Buddhist sculpture in a green valley
- Chongqing hotpot at a table perched over the city
- Light Rail Line 2 through the middle of a residential apartment building
- Yangtze–Jialing river confluence panorama from Chaotianmen Square
